Isaac Newton’s Apple Tree

tumblr_n3sb1f0UV11rnseozo1_1280We discovered that you can visit Isaac Newton’s childhood home of Woolsthorpe Manor in Lincolnshire, the likely setting for the ‘apple incident’, quite by accident last year. We’d spent the morning looking at another famous tree at Sherwood Forest and were searching Atlas Obscura for something to do with our afternoon when this place came up.

We saw the room where he was born, and the bedroom where he conducted experiments with light, but by far the most interesting thing was the apple tree in the grounds just outside.
